O’Regan Family Pledges $2M to the Above and Beyond Capital Campaign as tribute to Neville J Gilfoy

DARTMOUTH, NS (Oct. 18, 2018) – At Alderney Landing today, the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation publicly launched its $13 million “Above and Beyond” Capital fundraising Campaign with over $9.7 million already pledged from donors. The launch came with an announcement from the O’Regan Family and O’Regan’s Automotive Group that they are pledging a $2 million gift to the capital campaign.

“We are pleased to make this announcement today to our community,” says Sean O’Regan. “The Dartmouth General Hospital is our hospital and we are delighted to see that such a major investment is being made by the province and the community to ensure its ability to continue to be an even better hospital for the next generation.”

The O’Regans also expressed particular pride in the opportunity their $2M gift provides. They have chosen to create an enduring legacy for Neville J. Gilfoy, a business leader who went above and beyond for his community every day. This gift will honour his lifetime of outstanding contribution to Dartmouth, the province and beyond.

“I first became involved with the Dartmouth General and the campaign for the Emergency Department in 2002 because of Neville Gilfoy’s recruitment,” notes Patrick O’Regan. “I am excited about this gift because it is the right thing to do – to honour someone who was a supporter of the Dartmouth General and a champion for his community throughout his life.”

The tribute to Neville Gilfoy will be recognized by naming the new three-story addition to the Dartmouth General. It will be called the Neville J. Gilfoy Wing.

“We are so pleased at this outstanding gift,” notes Adrienne Malloy, President and CEO of the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation. “It means so much – it’s a chance for us to ensure the legacy passed on to us from people like Neville Gilfoy endures and will be known by many for years to come. The O’Regans and the Neville Gilfoy are the true difference makers in our community.”
